Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant in Kogi State, has opened two security outposts in the communities of Iwaa and Apata as part of its dedication to improving security and bolstering efficient community policing in its host communities.

The Corporate Affairs Unit provided journalists in Lokoja with a statement yesterday that included this information.

The improvements were carried out as part of the company’s commitment to community development and bolstering security in its host and impacted communities, according to Azad Nawabuddin, the Obajana Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, who spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Nawabuddin said that even though Iwaa is geographically far from the plant, the community has a special place in the company’s priorities. The company is also careful to make sure that security interventions and development projects reach beyond the communities closest to the plant.

Noting that “a community that is not secure is deprived of meaningful progress and development,” he emphasized that security continues to be a crucial pillar for growth and sustainable development.

Nawabuddin added that the recently disclosed security infrastructure strengthens the bond between Dangote Cement Plc and the communities in terms of security architecture management and represents a major turning point in efforts to protect people and property.

Oba Fredrick Balogun, the Olu of Apata and a traditional leader, thanked the corporation for providing the community with what he called “impressive structures” and other facilities, pointing out that the village was one of those who benefited from Dangote Security’s assistance.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, he said, was a God-sent man with a good heart for his people.

The Elesho of Iwaa, HRH Obafemi Abel Alade Alaofin, thanked Dangote Cement Plc for what he described as a “demonstration of love” in his own letter.

The king pledged the community’s unwavering commitment to the Plant Director and the business, adding that his people are still truly grateful for the new security facility.

He added that the relationship is friendly and mutually beneficial and that Iwaa has benefited greatly from Dangote Cement and Obajana Plant.

Additionally, according to Prince Adeyemi Ademola, General Manager, Social Performance, a needs assessment carried out in 2024 showed that security infrastructure was a key priority in both the Iwaa and Apata villages.

According to Prince Ademola, Dangote Cement Plc, a socially conscious business, started and finished the security post projects in response to this pressing community need.

Through ongoing involvement and priority-based initiatives, he reiterated the company’s dedication to sustainable community development.
