Eid El Kabir 2026: APPMEN Urges Religious Tolerance, Peaceful Coexistence, End to Killings

As Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the globe celebrate the 2026 Eid El Kabir festival, the Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN) has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah while calling for renewed commitment to religious tolerance, national unity, and peaceful coexistence.
In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the celebration, APPMEN described Eid El Kabir, popularly known as the Festival of Sacrifice, as a season that reflects the virtues of obedience, faith, selflessness, and devotion to the greater good. The association noted that these values are urgently needed to address the divisions and challenges confronting the nation.
The association urged Muslims and Nigerians at large to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, stressing that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity. According to APPMEN, harmonious relationships among adherents of different faiths remain essential for national stability, development, and peaceful coexistence.
APPMEN also expressed concern over the persistent killings and insecurity in various parts of the country, condemning the continued loss of innocent lives. The association called on the Federal Government, security agencies, and community leaders to intensify efforts toward safeguarding lives and property while ensuring that perpetrators of violence are brought to justice.
Speaking further, APPMEN highlighted the numerous socio-economic challenges facing Nigerians, including poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and inadequate infrastructure. The association appealed to leaders at all levels to prioritize people-oriented policies, transparency, and good governance capable of restoring hope and improving the living conditions of citizens.
The media body equally reaffirmed its commitment to responsible journalism and nation-building, pledging continued support for factual reporting, accountability, and the promotion of peace through the media.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the National Coordinator of APPMEN, Chief Precious Enebuse, stated:
“Eid El Kabir reminds us of the importance of sacrifice for the collective good of society. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, we must all make sacrifices that promote peace, tolerance, unity, and a better future for Nigeria. We must reject hatred, end the cycle of violence, and work together to build a nation where every citizen feels secure, respected, and valued.”
APPMEN further commended religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society groups, and security personnel for their continued efforts in maintaining peace and ensuring public safety during the festive period.
The association prayed that the blessings of Eid El Kabir would bring healing, peace, and renewed hope to Nigeria and its people.
“Eid Mubarak to all Muslim faithful. May peace, unity, and prosperity continue to reign across the nation,” the statement added.
