The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South East Zone will nominate Sunday Ude-Okoye for the job of national secretary ahead of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on May 27.
Nwali Nwafor, the PDP’s spokesman in Ebonyi State, confirmed this in an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday.
According to reports, the PDP Governors Forum in Ibadan, Oyo State, adopted the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshedo, to act as National Secretary following the Supreme Court verdict.

The Governors stated in a release that Koshedo will remain in the job until a substantive secretary is nominated and ratified by the South East Zone and NEC at the next meeting.
Nwafor told Naija News that the position of the PDP governors favored Ude-Okoye.

“Yes, I am aware that the issue of ratification of the office of the National Secretary from the southeast has since been resolved by the zone following the nomination of Chief SKE Ude Okoye to replace Anyanwu.

“We are left to represent the name of Chief Ude Okoye to the National Working Committee (NWC) before the forthcoming NEC,” stated the commander.

He praised the governors’ stance on the national secretary dispute, noting that their action “has already resolved the issue”.

He explained that the NWC will support the governors’ decision to have Setonji operate as national secretary till the NEC.

“Yes, they should, because their nomination is lawful notwithstanding the long-running dispute by former National Secretary Anyanwu.

“Chief Setonji will act till the forthcoming NEC meeting, but the NWC will ratify the name that will replace Anyanwu in one of their meetings before NEC,” he told reporters.
