On Friday, Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, referred to Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, as a bulldozer that the Governors’ Forum, PDP, and Peoples Democratic Party must use with caution.
Fayose cautioned that the PDP might not have a presidential candidate in 2027 if the governors are unable to come to an agreement with Wike.
Fayose cautioned PDP governors and party leaders not to ignore Wike’s recent warning during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
To further the party’s goals, the former governor said, the governors and the party’s leadership should work with Wike to establish areas of agreement.
“Let me just say that this Wike you see is like a bulldozer that you have to control or figure out how to avoid,” he remarked. When someone says, “I’ll be at your house at a certain time,” then he shows up, you know something is wrong.
“I’m warning now, I have said my own now,” Wike remarked in the snatches I watched earlier. You can’t build something on nothing, therefore let’s find a common ground to fix this issue before trouble [erupts].
Where will it end? Who would submit a nominee to INEC if the Supreme Court rules that Anyanwu is the National Secretary? All other declarations are nullity ab initio. Is it Anyanwu or the National Chairman who are unable to function independently?
Since I haven’t seen Wike in a long time, I’m arguing that we need to proceed with caution. You don’t have to trust me today, but you’ll remember what Fayose told you when it comes back to haunt you.
“With all due respect to Buhari, I told Nigerians that he would ruin this country in this way, and everyone was yelling at me to let him run his government, which he has done and left you hurt. What are you saying?
Wike is telling us that if you choose to disregard the Supreme Court’s ruling, then so be it. However, I want the governors to work with him to advance the party; if not, I want to think that the PDP would not have a candidate. Playing into Wike’s hands becomes problematic.
