The Federal Government has revealed that it has started to evacuate Nigerians who want to escape Iran.
The incident was revealed in a post made on đť•Ź on Tuesday by the Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
Dabiri-Erewa claims that representatives of the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are in charge of organizing the evacuation, making sure that any individuals who choose to leave Iran are transported securely into Armenia.
“Officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are safely guiding the willing Nigerians in Iran across the Armenian border, ensuring a seamless and secure process for those seeking to depart,” she said.
She also gave assurances that no Nigerian has been hurt as a result of the ongoing hostilities and that embassy staff are still available at the border to help and support evacuees.
The Federal Government’s attempt to protect Nigerians overseas in times of emergency includes the evacuation, which was executed in cooperation with Armenian authorities. It highlights the government’s attention to Middle East developments and its dedication to safeguarding the well-being of its people abroad.
Following the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Nollywood actor Linc Edochie has advised young people in northern Nigeria against holding demonstrations in favor of Iran.
According to reports, the actor issued the warning during protests in northern Nigeria by organizations endorsing Iran following the leader’s death on February 28, 2026, during a joint Israeli-American bombing.
