The All Progressives Congress (APC) officially welcomed Dr. Emana Duke Ambroose-Amawhe, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, from Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu on Sunday.
Before meeting with the Governor, her wife, the APC state chairman, and the governor’s chief of staff on Sunday, the former PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate announced her defection to her new party via her X (previously Twitter).
Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the APC Chairman in Cross River State, escorted Emana to Governor Bassey Otu and his spouse after she announced her defection.
“As a sign of respect and to formally inform them of my movement, I only went to greet His Excellency, the Governor, and His Wife, Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu,” Emana stated over the phone with our correspondent.
“The day will soon be announced, along with thousands of my supporters and other prominent figures, of my formal and ceremonial transition to my new party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

She resigned with immediate effect in a letter dated March 28, 2025, which was sent to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in the Cross River State local government area of Akpabuyo.
She claimed that although she did not make the decision to leave the PDP lightly, she was still dedicated to helping her community and advancing Cross River State and the nation in various ways.
In 2023, Dr. Ambros-Amawhe ran as Senator Sandy Onor’s deputy candidate for governor of Cross River State.
In addition, she ran on the PDP’s platform for the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat.
