The Speaker of the State House of Assembly loyal to former Governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has been legally acknowledged by the Rivers State Government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara in response to a recent Supreme Court decision.
Although the government admitted being aware of the Assembly’s decisions, it pointed out that it had not yet received official word from lawmakers in a letter to the Assembly written by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo.
The statement made it clear that, despite being shared on social media, the letter had not yet been received by the Office of the Accountant-General, the Deputy Governor’s Office, or the Governor’s Office as of March 4 close of business.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s March 2 state broadcast, in which he reaffirmed his resolve to uphold the Supreme Court’s decision regardless of individual beliefs, was also cited in the letter.

He promised to act in the best interests of the state and to enforce the rule of law.
Danagogo said that the government’s legal team is still awaiting a certified true copy of the Supreme Court’s ruling and gave the public his word that Governor Fubara would put the ruling into effect as soon as the official paperwork arrived.
