In an effort to break the cycle of violence that has afflicted the state’s politics, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has made a new commitment.

When the State Commission of Inquiry’s report on the destruction of local government secretariats was delivered to the governor on Tuesday, he made the commitment.

Governor Fubara promised to carry out its suggestions regardless of the parties.

At the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor made this pledge as Justice Ibiwengi Minakiri, the commission’s chairman, presented the commission’s report. He emphasized the need to put an end to what he called “unreasonable violence in politics,” saying that politics should be a race of ideas without enduring allies or adversaries rather than being equated with violence.

The governor praised the committee for persevering in finishing the assignment in spite of obstacles and legal challenges that were used to thwart its efforts.

The report’s approach was explained by Justice Ibiwengi Minakiri, the chairman of the seven-member commission. She mentioned how important it was to visit the impacted local government districts of Khana, Eleme, Ikwerre, Emohua, and Obio/Akpor in order to confirm the information in the memoranda that were filed.

The governor gave the panel 30 days to complete its work, and Justice Minakiri claims that the commission’s work uncovered secret information about the state and was completed on November 28. Included in the report’s four volumes are findings, exhibits, memos, and proceedings records.

Justice Minakiri advised Governor Fubara to put the suggestions into effect in order to guarantee the state’s long-term tranquility. Some of the people named in the memoranda did not show up to defend themselves before the commission, she further disclosed.
