Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has signed the 2022 Finance and Appropriation Bill into law, which is N163, 953, 384,000 less than the actual amount presented to the legislature.
Buni had presented the state assembly with the sum of N164, 054, 384, 000 in November as the 2022 Finance and Appropriation Bill for consideration and passage.
The governor said at the budget signing in Damaturu yesterday that, despite the House cutting both recurrent and capital expenditures as part of their oversight functions, the budget would focus on completing all ongoing projects, creating employment opportunities, and promoting self-reliance.

“The net allocation to finance recurrent expenditure is now N90.296 billion, while N73.657 billion is set aside for capital expenditure,” he explained.
“I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr Speaker, honorable members, and the Yobe State House of Assembly staff for their cooperation, diligence, and timely passage of the 2022 budget.”
“This demonstrates the positive working relationship between the two branches of government, as well as our shared commitment to moving the state forward.” Buni stated, “We will continue to strengthen this synergy for the sake of the state and our people.”
The Speaker, Hon. Ahemd Lawan Mirwa, stated that the House began a structural adjustment in the budget, which resulted in a reduction in the budget’s size in order to allocate funds to the most critical areas.
Mirwa praised Buni for presenting a realistic budget and stated that the House was proud of the governor’s developmental programs, particularly in education and other areas.
