Members of the State House of Assembly started the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh, on Thursday, causing another change in the political landscape in Rivers State.
Major Jack, the Majority Leader of the House, formally read the notice outlining accusations of egregious misbehavior against Governor Fubara during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.
The notice, which was approved by 26 parliamentarians, charged the governor with allegedly breaking the Nigerian Constitution by his conduct.
The governor would get the warning within the next seven days, Amaewhule declared.
The notice of accusations and serious misbehavior against Deputy Governor Ngozi Oduh was read by Deputy Majority Leader Linda Stewart during the same meeting.
