His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Soludo CFR, the Governor of Anambra State, has praised May & Baker Nigeria PLC for its local production at the Pharmacentre, a May & Baker Ultramodern factory in Ota, Ogun State.
Governor Soludo, who attended the 2025 ACPN conference held recently in Awka, Anambra State, upon arrival, paid his first call at the May & Baker exÂhibition exhibit. The goverÂnor was impressed to see that most of the drugs on the exhibition stand were produced locally at the May & Baker Ultramodern facÂtory in Ota, the PharmaÂcentre.
The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of May & Baker, Pharm PatÂrick Ajah, who received the Governor emphasised the dedication of M&B as the first Pharmaceutical ComÂpany in Nigeria towards investment in innovation and quality of medications produced locally. Of particÂular interest, he said, was the investment in the HerbÂal factory dedicated to the production of innovative herbal medicines, which are products of research from locally available herbs and by Nigerian reÂsearchers.

One of these products, “Roveda,” is made from the bitter leaf found in the area. It is the result of research conducted by Niclovix, from the Nigerian Institute for Pharmaceutical Research (NIPRD) in Abuja, and Prof. Izevbigie, a Nigerian scientist and the vice chancellor of Benson Idahosa University in Benin City.
Both goods are manufactured at the May & Baker herbÂal facility and are sold by May & Baker.
The governor, who was listening intently, inquired about the drugs’ intended uses and the individuals for whom they were intended.
The MD/CEO told Soludo that May & Baker currently operates a depot operation in Onitsha and is currently building her own facility in Onitsha when she inquired about the investment M&B is making in Anambra State.
