President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that many Nigerians are still grappling with economic and security challenges.
Tinubu said this on Sunday while accepting the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential ticket for the 2027 election.
“But there are still challenges ahead,” he said, acknowledging the economic hardships the country is facing. Many Nigerians are still dealing with the effects of soaring prices and changes in the economy.
“We hear these concerns, we see them and we lead not from a place of ease, but from a true understanding of the situation, with honesty and decisive action.”
The President also admitted that even with the military efforts ongoing, safety is still a major problem in some parts of the country.
“I recognize that some parts of our great country still face security challenges,” Tinubu said.
His government has put money into intelligence, surveillance and high-end security tools, he said.
“We have invested in intelligence, in watching over things, and new tools, and we are working on the fundamentals of insecurity,” Tinubu said.
He also urged the National Assembly to approve state police “as a matter of national emergency.
