Igbo Leaders Strengthen Police Partnership With Courtesy Visits Across Formations in Lagos

Igbo Leaders Visit Police Commands, Commend Officers’ Commitment to Security

Businessman and community leader Eze Chika Nwokedi on Thursday led a delegation of Igbo leaders and associates on a courtesy visit to various formations and commands of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State as part of his longstanding support for security agencies.

Nwokedi, who is the Ezendigbo of Ijegun-Ijeododo, Chairman of the Council of Ndieze Igbo Lagos, President of the Ndigbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria, and former Chairman of Ladipo International Spare Parts Market, was accompanied by several traditional rulers and associates during the visits across Ikeja.

Among those in the entourage were Eze Uchenna Dike Innocent and HRH Eze Chukwukadibia Uwenwekwe.

The delegation visited the office of the Assistant Inspector-General overseeing the Police Training School; the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police College, CP Theodore Obasi; Deputy Commissioner Ajose Mohammed of the Police Training School; the Lagos State Police Command headquarters; Deputy Commissioner A.B. Lawal (Administration); and Deputy Commissioner Khan Salihu, DC Operations, Ikeja Command, and were warmly received.

Speaking during the visits, Nwokedi reiterated his commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and appreciating officers for their efforts in combating crime and maintaining security in Lagos State.

According to him, the visits and support initiatives have become a regular tradition spanning over two decades.

“It has become a duty for me to appreciate the efforts of the police in securing lives and property. This is something I have continued to do for more than 20 years as a gesture of goodwill,” he said.

He also urged officers to remain dedicated to professionalism and integrity while discharging their duties, acknowledging that although there may be “bad eggs” in the system, many officers remain committed to protecting citizens.

Nwokedi commended the leadership of the police formations visited and pledged continued collaboration and support for the force.

Responding on behalf of officers, one of the senior police officials, CP Obasi Theodore Chuks, thanked Nwokedi and his entourage for the visit and goodwill, describing the gesture as voluntary and commendable.

“It is out of your free will that you decided to come and identify with our officers. We sincerely appreciate you and will continue to partner with one another,” Deputy Commissioner Ajose Mohammed of the Police Training School also said.

During the interaction, Nwokedi also presented gifts and support items to selected police personnel as part of efforts to encourage officers serving in the command.

Other members of the delegation included Igwemadu Uzoma Orjiugo Anawareze, Celestine Edozie Nwachi N’awareze, Chief Asika Simon Chinedu, Chief Emeka Onwukaobi (Onowu), Chinoso Osuji, Prince Ossy Ekeocha, Prince Isaac, and Prince Charles of Okota, among others.
