APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe has stated that the ruling party cannot afford to lose Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State.
El-Rufai recently reportedly stated at a gathering in Abuja that he no longer acknowledges the ruling party, claiming that the APC no longer engages in internal democracy.
The APC retorted that the former governor was a desperate politician working just to maintain political relevance ahead of the national elections in 2027.
In response, on Wednesday, Igbokwe said on his Facebook page that El-Rufai is bolder, sharper, and more shrewd than all of President Bola Tinubu’s ministers.
Tinubu’s triumph in 2023, he said, was due to powerful individuals like El-rufai, and it was regrettable that some government cabals opposed his appointment when he was nominated as a minister.
In his post, he stated that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is essential to APC Nigeria. During the 2023 presidential and governorship elections, he put forth a lot of effort on behalf of the APC.
“I witnessed the actions of Governor El Rufai, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and another Governor in halting the criminal Emefiele’s questionable money policy that was directed at PBAT and almost ended the PBAT victory. I also recall his agonizing efforts to keep Kaduna for the APC.

“For unknown reasons, we permitted unethical individuals and antics to enter the Senate’s hallowed chambers and thwart HE El-Rufai’s appointment as a minister. He should have made a bow and just left if realism were to win.
The intruders’ sadistic instincts were permitted to leave by APC. I want to know what kind of meat they eat now. Which of the Federal Cabinet’s ministers is superior to Mallam El Rufai in terms of intelligence, courage, resourcefulness, skill, and depth?
“It is incomprehensible and completely unacceptable to disregard and ignore our own scholar in the finest and best tradition.” We hope that we will always remember this powerful petrel with a ton of potential. I’m so happy for Malam El Rufai.
“This wonderful man must not be disregarded by APC Nigeria for whatever reason. We cannot afford for the opposing party to win him over. At this moment, we cannot afford to lose him because he is one of the strong characters. “The case rested.”
