PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, who is running for governor of Edo State on September 21, 2024, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to bribe his witnesses before the tribunal with ₦30 million.
At Thursday’s PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Benin, Ighodalo made the revelation. Nonetheless, he thanked his witnesses for their tenacity and commitment to the cause and promised to utilize the Supreme Court to “claim his mandate.”
According to the PDP chieftain, the tribunal’s decision aimed to sabotage justice, thus he and his running mate Osarodion Ogie, along with other party members in the state, would keep fighting.
We’re going to fight this war to the finish,” he declared. Many of our supporters came here from their homes. Even though N30 million was given to persuade them, none of our witnesses wavered. I appreciate all of them for sticking by the party.

“The tribunal rendered an unfair decision. We’ve filed an appeal and will appeal to the Supreme Court. The fact that God is just gives us faith that He will step in. Despite everything going on around us, we need to stay strong and determined.
After regaining the mandate, Ighodalo pledged to build on the groundwork established by outgoing Governor Lucky Igbinedion.
When we receive our mandate, we will continue the work that leaders like Lucky Igbinedion started. Everyone will be comfortable after our eight years in government, with the exception of those who don’t want to work. We have been learning humility and character strength from God. Appointing the wrong people would have been a major mistake if we had been sworn in after the election. We will reward party members’ loyalty once we take office,” he declared.
