His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, praised Governor Peter Mbah’s security policy, which included a significant investment in technology, and urged other state governors to follow in his footsteps.
According to Aba, Mbah’s strategy serves as a template for preventing insecurity and protecting people and property.
On Easter Monday, he made the call during a birthday Eucharistic service at Wesley Cathedral to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Methodist Archdiocese of Enugu’s Archbishop, Most Rev. Christopher Ede, and his twin brother, Hon. Peter Ede.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prelate recalled his visit to the state’s Command and Control Center, where he saw what he called Governor Mbah’s sophisticated, technologically advanced security system.
He claims that the facilities are able to monitor activity throughout the state in real time and provide quick reactions to security risks.
I recently spent time with Governor Peter Mbah. He showed me the entire state of Enugu while we were in the Command and Control Center. I asked him, “Can you show me where my Archbishop lives?” because I wanted to put him to the test. Before I knew it, he had widened the cameras, and I saw employees moving about. I exclaimed, “Oh my God.”
The Prelate praised the governor for putting citizens’ safety first, pointing out that his administration had shown a great dedication to safeguarding people’s lives and property.
“You’re a man of the people, and you take security seriously. He continued, “I would like to line up with anyone who is concerned about others.”
In his speech, Archbishop Ede thanked the governor for honoring the occasion and described his attendance as a sign of sincere gratitude and support.
“Your Excellency, being here to commemorate us is a wonderful honor. That teaches me that it’s important to value who I am as a person and what God is accomplishing through me in addition to our work.
This church is in love with you. You have our support, and we continue to do so. We will keep praying for you, and we really appreciate you coming,” he stated.
The Archbishop’s book, “Start Well, Finish Strong: Leadership Principles for Ministers and Organizational Decision-Makers,” was praised as inspirational by Governor Mbah, who spoke at the event.
He praised the celebrant’s qualities as a man of greatness, humility, and service while characterizing it as both enlightening and powerful.
“We are here to celebrate the Archbishop’s birthday, the Archbishop and his twin, and the Archbishop’s accomplishments,” Mbah stated.
It’s a diamond jubilee, which is a real milestone. He said, “Your life is the perfect example of the fundamental qualities of greatness: humility and service.”
The governor mentioned his personal relationship with the Archbishop and recalled their conversations throughout his campaign, especially those that focused on healthcare, education, and social services.
You have, in fact, become a light to many people. You have demonstrated that we are not constrained by our natal circumstances. You have come from lowly origins to inspire a great number of people,” he stated.
Mbah also praised the cleric’s dedication to charity, community development, and poverty alleviation, characterizing him as a deserving son of Enugu State whose influence extends beyond national borders.
You’ve shown us that brilliance is more about service than social standing. The governor declared, “We can only thank God for your life of inspiration on a day like this.”
