The widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, Omowunmi Aloba has said the rift between her and her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba started before her husband’s death.
Her problems began after the birth of her son Liam, she told Channels Television.
“Yeah, we were best of friends. “I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child,” she said.
She said the disputes over the naming ceremony for Liam and other family problems that could not be sorted out were worsening.
“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and because my husband forgave his mother. It was a simple family feud that ballooned into something really big.
“Everyone online seems to think it’s all about my husband’s downfall. But really it is because of the family feud that we had before the death of my husband,” she said.
The late singer’s widow further said that immediately after Mohbad’s death, her father-in-law focused discussions on the singer’s properties and royalties.
“I literally picked up the phone and called him because I was tense and scared. He wasn’t saying what I wanted to hear. This is just about my husband’s property and all that,” she said.
She’s also claimed Joseph Aloba wants the DNA result to prove Liam is not the father.
What he really wants will never happen. He actually wants my child to be DNA negative,” she said.
The situation, Omowunmi said, had gone beyond the point where it might be possible to reconcile again.
“It has really come to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she said.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances.
His death sparked outrage across the country, protests and a raft of investigations, including court cases, autopsy reviews and ongoing disputes over the paternity of his son, Liam.
