The Mountain Top University (MTU) has reaffirmed its commitment to raising a new generation of leaders who are God-fearing and equipped with the moral foundation necessary to make a positive impact in their communities and the world at large.
The Chancellor of Mountain Top University ( MTU) and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries worldwide, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya made this known during the 6th Convocation Ceremony of Mountain Top University (MTU) held at Prayer City.
The Chancellor urged graduands to rise up with boldness and the grace of God with a view to solving myriads of challenges bedevilling the country and world at large.
Olukoya said since its inception, MTU has been producing morally sound, academically excellent hardworking graduates who are equipped with the vocational skills to be self-independent and be employers of labour apart from the academic degrees they acquire.
He urged graduates to be shining examples of the vision of MTU, to be focused in life with integrity and determination to make society better.
Olukoya said the institution with its foundation in the word of God and deliverance prayers hatches students who will be great individuals, who will influence lives and impact destinies.
His words, “I want all of you today to be the light and salt to the world with positive impact. Today’s convocation is a testament to God’s faithfulness in raising new generations of leaders for the nation and the world at large.
“I want you all to be shining examples of the vision of MTU which is to produce morally sound graduates, equipped to impact communities and the world positively.
“Our vision in MTU is to produce morally sound, academically excellent, hardworking people who will impact the society positively. This is why apart from just getting a degree, we involve our students in vocations such as bread making, and fashion designing, to mention a few. We also ensure our students learn at least one musical instrument. We are training agents of transformation in MTU”.
Olukoya who commended his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Elizabeth Olukoya for her positive support and exemplary impact on students in MTU, specifically appreciates Prince Dr Alex Mbata for his contributions, not only in MTU but for his societal transformation and tireless efforts in transforming lives.
Olukoya commended NUC especially the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu.
On her part, wife of the Chancellor, Dr. Folashade Elizabeth Olukoya said that she will constantly use her position to impact positively on the students especially mentoring the female students to be better women, mothers, and wives in the future.
In his convocation lecture, the Governor of Taraba, Dr Agbu Kefas, charged the graduands to strive to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives, by being focused, and purposeful and using their talents for the betterment of the masses.
“I want you all to discover your purpose and use your talents to build, innovate, and inspire others, especially to better the society.
“Our present society needs dynamic young people like you, therefore, use your talents to solve problems in the country and world at large. Embrace every opportunity with determination to fulfil a greater purpose.”
Kefas urged the graduands to be agents of change in their communities and added that most parents and guardians send their children to MTU because of the moral standard of the institution apart from the academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University, Professor Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi in his part said 378 graduates participated in the 6th Convocation Ceremony, in which 50 bagged first-class. The overall Best Graduating Student is Ms. Oni Toluwani Itunu-Oluwa of the Department of Food Science and Technology, with a 4.98 grade point. A total of 345 students received Bachelor’s degrees, 17 Postgraduate Diplomas, 14 Master’s degrees, and 2 were awarded Doctorate degrees.
Speaking on MTU’s fast-growing achievements, Ayolabi said MTU achieved recognition as the top-ranked institution in Nigeria and gained global recognition for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4—Quality Education, as assessed by the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. He added that the university also excelled in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), achieving high rankings in Nigeria, adding that accolades underscore MTU’s commitment to setting new benchmarks in educational excellence.
Additionally, The Vice Chancellor said the National Universities Commission approved five new academic programs at MTU: Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health, and Biomedical Technology, which admission commenced during the ongoing 2024–2025 academic session, with approximately 150 students already enrolled.
He revealed that MTU has also secured accreditation for all its academic programs, likewise In response to its rapid growth, the university has intensified efforts to expand its housing facilities on both Campus A and Campus B, laying the groundwork for future milestones.
He explained that activities to mark the ceremony include an entrepreneurship exhibition, where students will showcase innovative projects and business ideas, Various vocational programs, including musical performances by student musicians, will also be on display. Additionally, there was an open-day festival and an art exhibition.
“It is worth noting that our Food Science and Technology students secured first place in the 10th Regional Food Science and Technology Summit 2024 quiz.
“Moreover, Miss Ajayi Iteoluwa, a student of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, was named the 2024 Under-25 CEO Entrepreneur of the Year. In the past year, we have witnessed tremendous progress,” he added.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of a two million gift to the best graduating student by the Ogun state governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The institution conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters upon Prince Alex Mbata in recognition of his contributions to Mountain Top University, and the private sector in Nigeria and Africa in general.
The university also honoured Professor Olajide Ayinla and Honorable Justice Oluwatoyin Atinuke Odusanya with the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of their exemplary service and dedication to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Mountain Top University, and public service.
