One John Gambo, a student at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force’s Nasarawa State command in relation to the stabbing death of a fellow student.
In a statement released on Sunday in Lafia, the state capital, SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command’s public relations officer, confirmed the arrest.
According to Nansel, the arrest was brought about by a local lady named Madam Mercy-Bassey’s complaint of a violent altercation between two of her tenants.

Investigators found Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time student of ND2 Computer Science, lying in a pool of blood when they arrived on the scene.
According to the spokesman, the victim passed away from his wounds not long after being taken to the General Hospital in Nasarawa town.

According to reports, the suspect, a National Diploma (ND) II student in the Department of Banking and Finance, was swiftly captured and allegedly confessed to using a knife and an axe to attack the victim.

The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for additional investigation and legal action, according to the PPRO, under the directive of Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro Mohammed.

In the meantime, it has been reported that ASP Shafi’u Usman Bawa, who possesses AP/No 337979, murdered himself.

It is known that the sad event took place at Kontagora town, Niger State, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

It was stated that ASP Bawa committed himself by hanging himself from the ceiling.

According to the wireless communication, Usman Bawa, the deceased’s father and a resident of Kontagora’s Rigasa neighborhood, informed the police of the occurrence.
After the report, the deceased’s body was sent to Kontagora’s General Hospital, where a physician verified his passing.

Following this, the remains were given to the family to be buried in line with Islamic tradition.

The police have announced that they are conducting an inquiry into the event and will release further information when it becomes available.
