Senator Ned Nwoko has claimed that after his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, caused a disturbance at a hotel in Abuja, the police once detained several of her relatives.
Speaking at a recent gathering of the Kay Hikers Club, a youth social group, the senator from Delta North described how Daniels phoned him during a conflict between hotel owners and a visitor.
He claimed that Regina had spent four days staying at the institution, where she and her friends—including her brother—participated in “drinking and smoking.”
When Daniels told Nwoko that she had been smacked by another hotel guest, Nwoko said the situation worsened.
He claimed that the actress then blocked the hotel’s two major entrances with her cars, making it impossible for guests to enter or leave the building.
The senator stated that he turned down her desire to get involved because he believed that law enforcement had to get involved. When the police were eventually summoned, those of Regina’s relatives who were there were taken into custody.
“They took this place for four days,” he stated. For them, it was four days of partying. Four days of drinking, smoking, and all the associated activities took place. As a lawyer, I have proof. I am on a level. I have a criterion. It was recorded that they were here between the 9th and the 13th or so, and that they used narcotics and alcohol. We have police statements in writing.
It is also recorded that they fought with both the hotel’s proprietors and its patrons. Regina called me one of those days to let me know that she had barred the two gates and that I needed to call the commissioner of police to ensure that no one left the hotel. For what did I ask her? She informed me that she didn’t want anyone to leave or enter the hotel and that when her doctors arrived to see her, someone’s husband slapped her.
She informed me that she blocked the hotel’s entrance with some of her vehicles. She didn’t comply with my request until the police arrived. She spent more than two hours blocking the gates.
“And some of them, including Regina’s siblings, were taken into custody.”
The dispute between Nwoko and Regina started in October when a widely shared video showed the actress sobbing and accusing her husband of domestic abuse.
