22 Lakurawa terrorist camps in Sokoto and Kebbi states have been demolished by Nigerian Army troops from the 8 Division, who were sent in for “Operation Fasan Gamma.”
In addition, the troops killed a number of terrorists and retrieved four weapons together with 409 PKT, 7.62mm, NATO, and 7.62mm special rounds of ammunition.
Before the development, forces had conducted preparatory and shaping operations into the banditti groups’ enclaves and woodlands.
In the villages of Illela, Tangaza, and Bingo local government areas, Rumji Dutse, east of Sarma, Tusauna, Bauni, Malgatawa, Gargao, Tsauna, Mafara, Kaideji, Nakuru, Sama, Sanyinna, Kaididda, Kolo, and Dancha, are the woodlands where the forces confronted the terrorists.
Recall that a Special Operations Brigade was sent to the states of Sokoto and Kebbi by General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff.
Consolidating the accomplishments of the ongoing preparatory operation under Operation Forest Sanity III to eliminate the Lakurawa terrorists is the goal of the deployment.

On behalf of the Theatre Commander, Operation Fasan Gamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, the General Officer Commanding, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 2 Operation Fasan Yamma, addressed the troops and ordered the complete annihilation of the Lakurawa sect.
In order to protect the lives and property of law-abiding civilians, he urged the troops to follow the rules of engagement.
He asserts that Nigerians are relying on the troops’ professionalism and capacity to drive out the Lakurawa since they have been chosen and trained for the mission.
“The Brigade’s deployment will provide an additional boost in thwarting the bandits’ activities and bringing peace to the impacted communities and the North-West as a whole,” he continued.
