A fire outbreak on Wednesday disrupted proceedings at the Senate wing of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, forcing lawmakers, staff and guests to flee the building before the situation was brought under control. Suddenly, smoke billowed into the room from an adjoining kitchen section, witnesses said, causing confusion as senators and guests rushed out before the sitting could be formally adjourned.

Senate orders arrest of NNPC GCEO over refusal to honour invitation The Senate has ordered the arrest of former Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari, over his alleged refusal to honour its invitation. The residents of Iluke community in Bunu District of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have called on the government to intervene quickly following an attack that claimed three lives, including a vice principal, by armed assailants. Wednesday’s pre-dawn assault has left the community in mourning and stirred security fears in the region.

6. The Federal Government has ordered for an investigation into how an aircraft landed on a highway and also took off in Ogwashi-Uku area near Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Wednesday.
