They beat Ghana 4-2 to win their first two games and are through to the last four with a game to spare. The defending champions have now won their first two games. The result also dashed Togo’s hopes of progressing after their earlier 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso.

The first half saw few clear cut chances for either side as both teams failed to break the deadlock before the interval. But Nigeria emerged from the dressing room with a new purpose and took the lead within a minute of the restart.

Muiz Adeleke opened the scoring with a composed finish to give Abdu Maikaba’s side the lead before striking again in the 57th minute to put the Flying Eagles firmly in control.

The in-form striker has now netted four goals in two games and is one of the competition’s leading performers. Abdullahi Agbeloye completed an impressive second-half display with a goal five minutes from time to make it three.

The win takes Nigeria to six points from two Group B games and leaves them in the last four. The Flying Eagles will wrap up their group campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
