The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has not changed in response to rumors that fuel prices had increased.
In response to rumors that the price of gasoline had increased from N1,030 to N1,060 per litre in Abuja, NNPCL spokeswoman Olufemi Soneye said, “There is no increase in gasoline price that I am aware of.”
In response to Soneye’s criticism of NNPCL’s ex-depot rates, Chinedu Ukadike, spokesman for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, said, “NNPCL still sells to us at the same price.”

However, he pointed out that independent marketers are currently dealing with a new price increase. “It costs N1,040 per litre in Port Harcourt, and about N990 per litre in Abuja and Lagos,” he continued.
This explanation comes after NNPCL hiked the price of gasoline to N1,030 per liter on October 9, 2024.
The remarks are made at a time when Aliko Dangote, the president of the Dangote Group, has voiced concerns over petroleum marketers ignoring the company’s 500 million-liter gasoline refinery capacity.
