Brig.-Gen. Olakunle O. Nafiu, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, has encouraged corps members to form friendships with people from other regions and keep them going after their service year.
While visiting the 2025 Batch “B” Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area, Kebbi State, on Friday, Nafiu offered the counsel.
He urged the corps members to accept their postings without protest, particularly to rural places where they could make enduring contributions, and stated that building relationships was a component of the program’s goal of forging national unity.
In light of the intense competition for jobs, the NYSC head also suggested that they save a portion of their allowances, look into funding opportunities from partner agencies, and take the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, or SAED, program seriously.
He urged corps members to use social media sensibly, respect the culture of their host towns, and stay away from anything that can be interpreted as undermining national ideals.
