Godwin Obaseki, the former governor of Edo State, has attacked Monday Okpebholo, his successor, for allegedly leaving an N600 billion debt.
Recall that during a press conference to commemorate Okpebholo’s first year in office, state Commissioner for Information and Strategy Kassim Afegbua stated that road contractors owed more than N178 billion.
Afegbua claimed that Obaseki was giving contractors instructions to get loans and carry out projects without making arrangements to be paid.
However, Obaseki’s media assistant, Crusoe Osagie, quickly refuted the accusation, claiming that nations like the United States see Nigeria as dangerous and even threaten military involvement because of these false tales.
“I believe it is now crucial that we emphasize the risks associated with some of these careless remarks they are making. We may confidently state that Nigeria is presently under an existential threat.
The head of state of another country has deemed our government to be careless, dishonorable, and disgraced.
Therefore, when remarks like this start to emerge from a state like Edo, which is also run by the All Progressives Congress (APC), it validates the mindset that we are getting from other countries.

“So he just comes out and spews lies and makes this statement, giving the impression that touts are in charge of the state,” he said.
