Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa are not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, who is running for governor in the 2023 Delta State election as an APC candidate.
APC is the dominant party in Delta State, according to Omo-Agege, who made this claim during a meeting with APC officials, elders, and stakeholders in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas on Monday.

He pointed out that the APC had won two Senate seats, two House of Representatives seats, and was expected to receive further defections from PDP members, in spite of the PDP’s assertions that the party had lost its influence in Delta State.
Following the 2023 elections, the PDP disseminated misleading information asserting that the APC had vanished from Delta. However, in this state, the APC gained two seats in the House of Representatives and two senators.

“The sole PDP senator is scheduled to join the APC today, and you continue to claim that we are not present? Isn’t our party the majority? “What?” asked Omo-Agege.

In the Delta Central Senatorial District, where he and Governor Oborevwori are from, he added, the APC won two of the three House of Representatives seats and the Senate seat, while the Labour Party only got one. PDP did not win.

The APC won five of the nine House of Assembly seats in Delta Central, while the PDP won four. Which party, then, is actually more popular? He went on to say.

Omo-Agege rejected the idea of admitting former Governor Okowa and Governor Oborevwori into the APC, even if he welcomed other PDP leaders.

“Everyone except Oborevwori and Okowa is invited. In order to restore their party, they ought to stay in the PDP.

“This party was created from the ground up, and we will not let individuals with dubious backgrounds ruin the hard work we have put into it.”

In addition, the former Deputy Senate President gave APC members his word that any internal issues will be settled before to the general elections in 2027. He asserted that before the next election cycle, the opposition party would be rendered obsolete due to the national crisis inside the PDP.

“Instead than concentrating on our personal concerns, we ought to capitalize on the PDP’s more significant issues. Is it even certain that PDP will still in existence in 2027? At the national level, their crisis is getting worse.

“We should concentrate on re-electing President Bola Tinubu and winning the upcoming elections.”

Omo-Agege disclosed that additional PDP lawmakers will be joining the APC, pointing out that many members of the House of Assembly and three members of the PDP House of Representatives were already getting ready to go.

“I am aware that three members of the PDP House of Representatives are joining the APC, and we will soon have three senators.” Members of the House of Assembly will also be present.

He claimed that many members of the House of Assembly were considering desertion because of the repression they were receiving from Governor Oborevwori’s government.

The government of Governor Oborevwori is penalizing members of the Delta State House Assembly. You are not even allowed to speak as a member; if you do, you will be suspended.

We welcome all of them as they arrive. Governor Sheriff and Okowa are the only two individuals who are not accepted. They should continue to create their party within the PDP.

The APC National Chairman and other important players are dedicated to settling internal conflicts within the Delta APC chapter prior to the upcoming elections, APC National Publicity Secretary Barr. Felix Morka reassured party members.

In order to fortify the APC in the run-up to 2027, a number of party leaders who spoke at the event—including Hon. Fada Ibudeh, Chief Stevenson Ikpade, Chief Sunny Chuks Obuseh, Hon. Fred Ofume, Pst. Paul Ebede, Lady Philomena Agholor, Dr. Goddy Ibeh, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, Mr. Godwin Ogadi, and Barr. Eugene Uzum—emphasized the importance of true reconciliation.
