The truck’s compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder exploded after colliding with a gasoline tanker in Karu, Abuja, on Wednesday, according to claims refuted by Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
On Thursday morning, the presidential communications aide posted on his official 𝕏 account that the truck’s CNG cylinder did not explode and was found undamaged.
Additionally, he refuted some reports that the fatal explosion that happened on Wednesday night was caused by the CNG cylinder having exploded.
This is the cement truck’s CNG cylinder that collided with a gasoline tanker that exploded on Wednesday night in Karu, Abuja. Despite previous allegations to the contrary, the CNG cylinder was found undamaged. That didn’t blow up. Onanuga posted a video of the cylinder on 𝕏 and stated, “And it was not the cause of the tragic explosion.”
It has been reported by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command that a sad tanker explosion happened on Wednesday night in Abuja, close to the Karu Bridge.
Approximately 7:14 p.m., the incident happened, causing considerable alarm among commuters and locals and resulting in the destruction of many vehicles.

According to the police, 14 cars were totally burned up and six people were killed in the incident.
In an official statement, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, reportedly characterized the collision as a catastrophic motor vehicle collision that occurred prior to Nyanya Bridge.
While other witnesses stated that there were more than ten casualties, authorities stated that six people were pulled from the debris but were later pronounced dead at the hospital.
