Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has spoken about how he almost missed death during a church service seven years ago.
According to reports, Adeboye related his experience at the annual Special Holy Ghost Service, themed “Joy Unspeakable,” and ascribed his survival to God’s favor.
Pastor Adeboye, who just turned 83, described how he became severely ill at one of the church’s annual “Let’s Go A-Fishing” evangelism activities in Ilesha and was unable to return to the camp by road.

The clergyman thanked God for saving his life.
He stated, “Seven years ago, during the same program, my body absolutely broke down owing to the dreadful road conditions. For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas in bed. The devil was convinced he had finally gotten me. I collapsed at Ilesha, so we had to rent a helicopter to get me back to camp. I was too frail to travel by road, and if I had, I would not have survived.
“However, just as I was ready to be rescued, some local miscreants (area lads) attempted to stop the helicopter from taking off.
“They clung to the chopper, and one of the windows was torn. But by God’s help, I made it to the camp. I was assured that if I could just go to the camp, I would recover. Seven years later, I am still alive! I’d like to thank God for sparing my life. Please praise Him for me—give Him glory, honor, and devotion.”
