According to the Nigeria Police Force’s Katsina State command, forty-nine (49) people were arrested in February 2025 on suspicion of rape.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, was represented by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who reaffirmed the force’s efforts to prevent sexual violence in the state during a news conference on Friday.
The Command is committed to combating crimes against women and children, he said.

The arrests were understood to be a part of a broader effort that resulted in the capture of 144 suspects engaged in a variety of illegal crimes, such as kidnapping, culpable homicide, and armed robbery.
In addition, four armed bandits were neutralized and 105 people who had been abducted were rescued as a consequence of police operations.

In February, the Command recovered 13 pump-action cartridges, five motorcycles, 13 stolen animals, and four weapons built in the area, among other noteworthy accomplishments.

In addition to praising police officers’ dedication, DSP Aliyu informed the public that the Command is committed to providing justice for victims of sexual assault.

He urged the public to report such events right away, emphasizing that those who commit them will face legal repercussions.

For their continued assistance in the fight against crime, the police also thanked the media, the Katsina State Government under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, and Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

In order to eradicate sexual assault and other criminal activities in the state, the Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders and members of the community.
