A tragic road accident involving security personnel from Sector 4, Operation Crush, Bende Axis, has resulted in the death of a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), with nine others, including three police officers, sustaining injuries, as confirmed by the Abia State Police Command.
According to reports, their patrol car overturned on Bende Road on March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:10 PM, as they were making their way back to their post.
One NSCDC officer was declared deceased after the injured were quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia; the others are presently undergoing treatment.
CPL Achibere Paul, CPL Nkama Emmanuel, and PC Okibe are among the injured and are receiving medical attention.
Lieutenant Ogar, the commander of Operation Crush, now has the security personnel’s rifles. The overturned automobile is currently being retrieved.

In another incident, two Special Protection Unit (SPU) members were engaged in a deadly collision on the Ntigha section of the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway while driving a Sienna car from Aba to Abakaliki.
A civilian passenger is still in a coma, and the deceased have been identified as Akoh E. Benjamin and Uzoojike Victor. Both were pronounced dead at FMC Umuahia.
According to information obtained, the deceased’s bodies have been moved into the FMC mortuary while the investigation is ongoing.
