According to the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, Police Command, its officers have found a black Toyota SUV that was taken by armed bandits.
SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, stated in a statement on Friday that the car was taken on Thursday in the vicinity of the Lugbe region of the territory.
She clarified that a good Samaritan had called the Command in panic on Thursday night to report a carjacking that had occurred nearby.
Kemi H. Adidiru was driving from Lugbe to the city center when she was suddenly stopped and encircled by six armed men beneath a pedestrian bridge on Alieta Road in Lugbe, according to the PPRO.
According to the PPRO, the robbers forced the owner and her driver out of the 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (Reg. No. ABJ 670 EY) and took off with the vehicle and her possessions.
The statement also stated that the witness, who was horrified by the heist, immediately alerted the Command Control Room, giving vital details regarding the car and the perpetrators’ escape route.
By deploying patrol units throughout the FCT and warning crucial checkpoints, the police moved swiftly.
Police officers discovered the stolen car at a checkpoint on Galadimawa Road, Dantata Bridge, at around 11:35 p.m.
“A high-speed chase towards Airport Junction ensued after the suspects fled when cops tried to stop them. The suspects engaged in a violent gunfight with the police after they opened fire on them when they arrived at the Airport Junction, another police checkpoint.

Because of the police’s superior firepower, the suspects fled into the adjacent bushes, leaving behind the car and their gun.
“The vehicle and a bag containing cash and other valuables, as well as Halimat Adediru’s international passport, were successfully recovered.”
The seized objects have subsequently been given back to their original owner, who has expressed sincere gratitude for the police’s professionalism and quick response, according to the PPRO.
