A tactical team from the Rivers State Police Command took over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat on Aba Road in Port Harcourt on Thursday, amid ongoing leadership disagreements within the party.
The special squad used a police van to block the secretariat’s main entrance and limited entry to the building. The barricade also forced drivers to use a single lane, disrupting traffic movement along the major Aba Road.
The development was said to have occurred after Nname Robinson Ewor was named the PDP’s acting chairman in Rivers State.
After Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee’s term was declared invalid by a Rivers State High Court, Ewor rose to prominence.

Ewor said Chukwuemeka is no longer accepted as the PDP’s state chairman while addressing party members.

Ewor stated, “Chukwuemeka can now concentrate on his role as Chairman of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI),” stressing that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is still the PDP’s leader in Rivers State by virtue of his position.

Additionally, Ewor denied any indications that Nyesom Wike, the former governor and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, still has a leadership role in the state PDP.

The PDP in Rivers State is led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to be clear. “Any claims to the contrary should be ignored,” Ewor stated.
