The Presidency says that the supply of electricity in Nigeria has gotten better since 2015 and 2023.

Daniel Bwala, the President’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, said this during an interview on Arise TV. He talked about the changes that are happening in the power sector right now.

He says that many Nigerians are already getting better access to electricity since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office.

Bwala said, “Electricity availability is slowly getting better in different parts of the country.”

He said that new laws and policies from the government are helping to change the electricity industry and get more people involved.

He also said, “The changes being made are opening up the sector and making it easier to make and distribute power.”

Bwala said that one of the biggest changes in the field is that power is no longer just in the hands of the federal government.

He said that new laws make it easier for states, local governments, and private investors to be more involved in making and distributing electricity.

“The new legal environment means that power generation and distribution are no longer limited to the federal level. He said, “States and private operators now have clearer authority to invest and expand supply.”

He also said that the reforms’ goal is to make the sector less centralized and get more people involved in fixing Nigeria’s long-standing electricity problems.

Bwala said that the sector still has problems, but he is hopeful that things will keep getting better.

People all over Nigeria are angry about how bad the power supply is. Many states, like the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), still have problems with their power supply.

For example, many areas of the FCT only get electricity for a few hours a day, which makes taxpayers unhappy.
