President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar who resigned to contest the 2027 elections.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu was a Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the same vein, the President has sent the name of Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye for confirmation as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Prior to his nomination, Ambassador Enikanolaiye, who is from Kogi State, was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
Enikanolaiye is a seasoned public servant and distinguished diplomat with over three decades of exemplary service in Nigeria’s foreign service.
He previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served in key diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi.
The President said the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture for greater efficiency, strategic engagement and stronger global partnerships.
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, said Tinubu “congratulates the appointees and encourages them to work hard to promote Nigeria’s national interest, enhance economic diplomacy, encourage regional stability and protect the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad”.
