For the purpose of reporting issues with cash withdrawals at automated teller machines (ATMs) or over the counter, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has established specific contacts.
On November 29, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso encouraged bank clients to call the authorized numbers to report any difficulties with their withdrawals.
The banking authority had threatened to penalize banks if they did not prioritize cash disbursements through ATMs prior to the mandate.
However, in a circular on Tuesday that was co-signed by its acting director of currency operations, Solaja Olayemi, and its acting director of branch operations, Isa-Olatinwo Aisha, CBN offered specific lines to assist in resolving client issues.
In order to address effective and optimal currency circulation in the economy, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has made a number of interactions and interventions on the aforementioned topic.
In the course of these continuous endeavors, we would like to call your attention to the following guidelines and directives:
The CBN will step up its monitoring responsibilities to implement this direction and guarantee compliance, and Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) are instructed to make sure that consumers receive cash efficiently both over-the-counter (OTC) and through automated teller machines (ATMs).
