Robinson Ewor, the acting chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, has charged Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with conspiring with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the PDP from inside.
On Monday, April 21, 2025, Ewor made a live appearance on Arise News and asserted that Wike’s affiliations and actions make it evident that he is no longer a genuine member of the PDP. He also claimed that the former governor is receiving funding from the APC to undermine the party nationally and in Rivers State in preparation for the 2027 elections.
According to Ewor, the party had no internal issues prior to the general elections in 2023, but Wike lost his bid for president and was unable to get the vice presidential ticket.
He said that Wike’s personal setback was the catalyst for the party’s subsequent turmoil.
The PDP had no problems in the run-up to the general elections in 2023, to start. The incumbent minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, aspired to be the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s president. Also, he complied with the party’s primaries. The party ticket, however, went to Atiku. Wike aspired to become vice president after it. Ewor claimed that Wike initiated the PDP crisis since Atiku did not select him as the vice presidential candidate.
He further stated that Wike led the creation of the G5, which he says has as its sole goal undermining the PDP’s electoral prospects.
“This was where the PDP crisis started: Wike’s loss of the presidential ticket is the first reason. Second, Ewor said, “Atiku Abubakar did not select him as a vice presidential ticket.”
He created what Nigerians refer to as the G5, and he initiated the conflict inside the PDP. What does the G5 represent? Destroy PDP. Avert the electoral victory of Atiku Abubakar. Those were the G5’s values. The 2023 general election is no longer the party’s only concern today.

Ewor questioned Wike’s reasoning for continuing to meddle in PDP issues, saying that he is “busy destroying” the party.
The party no longer includes Wike. What is the best way to inform a party that you are no longer a member? How do you give advice to someone you’re busy ruining? When you are leading the charge to bring down a party, how can you tell them that? “What?” Ewor asked.
The current PDP problem is not a result of the PDP itself experiencing a crisis. The FCT minister is determined to dismantle the party, which is why. He is determined to ruin the celebration. And in River State, he initiated it.
“Sim Fubara did not violate any laws.”
In response to the controversy surrounding Wike and Rivers Governor Sim Fubara, Ewor said that the governor was being demonized for using his constitutional power.
What offense has Sim Fubara committed? Sim Fubara didn’t do anything illegal. “But because he wanted to control the state house of assembly, the party, the government, and every other known structure in the state so that he could rig the 2027 election for the All Progressive Congress,” Ewor claimed.
In River State, this is only a crisis. Sim Fubara did not break any laws. Is Wike able to tell Nigeria with good conscience? Sim Fubara’s impeachment was witnessed by others prior to October 2023.
The state PDP leadership has subsequently rejected Wike’s insistence on controlling all political entities in Rivers, according to Ewor, who said this was done to help the APC in upcoming elections.
“There is nothing that Sim Fubara did wrong. However, he is aware that if he correctly extends Sim Fubara’s term until 2027, they will not concur that he can no longer carry out his purpose of dismantling the PDP. To make sure we have our house in order, however, we have united as a party, particularly at the state level,” he stated.
“He had previously listened to the party hostage at the state.”
Ewor pointed to an instance of defiance of the party’s national order, saying: “The national says ‘don’t conduct congresses.'” He (Wike) proceeded to hold congresses. However, we have transcended that today. He no longer controls the state-level party now. When it comes to the party at the state level, he is therefore powerless.
Additionally, PDP governors, the National Working Committee (NWC), and the Board of Trustees (BoT) are working to recover and reposition the party at the national level, according to Ewor.
“To guarantee that the party is repositioned, the PDP governors’ forum, the NWC, and finally the party’s BOT are taking action at the national level,” he stated.
He ended by making a forceful claim: the APC is funding Wike’s activities in an effort to undermine the PDP from inside.
However, Nyesom Wike is sitting still today and ruining the celebration. And he’s being funded by the APC. That’s the problem. Eliminate Yosso Wike right now if you claim that the PDP is experiencing a crisis; you won’t find any. In River State, there aren’t any crises. You won’t see a crisis at the center or anywhere else in the state if you remove him.
