A security analyst, Brant Philip, said terrorists seized a number of Malian soldiers during coordinated assaults on military posts in some areas of Mali on Saturday.

The attacks targeted Malian army positions in Aguelhok, Gao, Sevaré, Anefis and Kenioroba, Philip said in a series of posts on 𝕏.

He said the Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin and the Front de Libération de l’Azawad carried out the offensive.

Philip also said there were unverified reports of a Russian Africa Corps Su-24 fighter jet crashing near Gao after it was allegedly hit by anti-aircraft fire close to Anefis.

“Unconfirmed reports that a Su-24 jet of the Russian Africa Corps crashed in Gao after being struck by AA near Anefis,” he wrote.

“Now heavy smoke coming from the Gao Air Base,” he added.

The alleged crash could not be independently confirmed, and Russian and Malian authorities had not officially confirmed it as of the time of reporting.

The Russian Africa Corps was fighting alongside the Malian military to push back the attacks, Philip said.

“The Africa Corps states that it is engaged in battle with the Malian army to repulse the offensive of the JNIM/FLA against their positions in Gao, Anefis and Aguelhok,” he said.

Philip also alleged that the FLA took more Malian soldiers prisoner at Anefis.
“Don’t say because she’s been buried it’s finished. No, it has not ended,” said the bereaved father.

In his burial speech, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, assured the bereaved family that his administration will pursue justice against anyone involved in the murder.

The Governor, Otti, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Chinedu Nwosu, said that the state government would not allow any Abia citizen to be killed in such brutal manner.

“Abia State government will not fold its arms in the face of violence against our people. A bright future and a life full of talent was cut short in a brutal act.

Governor Otti said, “We also reaffirm the commitment of the state government to continue to support the family throughout this judicial journey until justice is fully served.

The burial was attended by Students of School of Nursing, Umuologho Obowo in large numbers, who wept profusely as the body of their former colleague was interred during the event.
