Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused President Bola Tinubu of threatening and blackmailing five PDP governors to switch to the ruling party.
Frank reportedly disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
He claimed that by imposing a state of emergency in their states, Tinubu is also threatening to deal with governors who do not agree with him.

Timi Frank both northern and southern leaders not to fall for Tinubu’s ploys to seize power in 2027, emphasizing that the next election should be about who would handle the numerous issues facing the nation, not about who is from the North or the South.
“He has escalated the intensity by blackmailing, intimidating, and coercing at least five Southern PDP governors and their National Assembly members to defect to the APC,” he claimed.

Tinubu is frantically attempting to win over the South by deceit and deception because he believes that the 2027 election would be about him vs the North. He quickly forgot that the North had aided him in gaining power in 2023.

“Northern candidates or Southern candidates, or Northern President or Southern President,” is not what Nigerians need; they need a president who will make their country better.

There are already too many ethnic divisions in the nation. Therefore, we cannot afford to have a president who is inciting conflict amongst regions in order to further his own goals.

As a Southerner, Timi Frank, I don’t think a president who is divided and tribalistic is a good idea. I think there will be a leader who brings Nigeria together instead of dividing it.

“I urge all Northerners who continue to back Tinubu to reconsider their decision. They ought to be aware that the people who allegedly “assisted” Tinubu in gaining power in 2023 are currently the ones who are suffering the most.

It is a reality that Tinubu has put his own and his tribe’s interests ahead of everything else, blatantly ignoring the north in appointments and other infrastructural development initiatives.

For this reason, the North ought to awaken. They ought to be aware that Tinubu is not taking Nigeria in the greatest possible direction with regard to politics in 2027. In 2027, they ought to get up and speak once and for all.

“If Tinubu regains power in 2027, I want the Northern leaders to understand that the North would endure unimaginable neglect because Tinubu and the APC don’t truly care about their interests.

As of right now, at least five opposition governors are expected to leave the APC due to intense political pressure, intimidation, and blackmail—not because they like Tinubu. Those who stay have been forced to sign pledges promising to turn over their states to Tinubu or risk losing their chances of winning a second term.
