President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for a successful operation in Kogi State which led to the elimination of notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji.
The President said the operation had delivered a heavy blow to the criminal networks terrorising communities in Kogi and neighbouring states.
The reign of violence, kidnapping and attacks on civilians by Bastuji had brought untold hardship on the residents, Tinubu said in a statement issued Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
He said the neutralisation of the bandit leader would restore confidence and bring relief to the affected communities.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to our brave troops on their momentous milestone. Nigeria will not cede any part of its territory to criminals. ‘There is no hiding place for those that take this path of violence against innocent citizens,’ Tinubu said.
“This success is a testament to the renewed resolve of our security forces to retake every inch of our land.”
The President also congratulated the troops on another successful operation that ended in the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of late Rabe Abubakar.
He said the rescue operation demonstrated high level of professionalism and strong determination by the security operatives in dealing with the criminal elements.
“The safe recovery of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and all Nigerians. “I salute the officers and men who executed the rescue operation for their intelligence coordination and bravery,” he said.
“We are grateful to our troops who risk their lives every day to keep us safe.”
President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will continue to equip the Armed Forces with the necessary resources, training and support to end banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He also urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence and necessary support to them.
