President Bola Tinubu revealed that he nearly contacted former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to ask for assistance in finding the Alaafin of Oyo-designate, who had left Oyo Kingdom, Nigeria, to return to Canada before to his official coronation.
During a visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu made this statement while receiving Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the recently installed 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
“When the nomination and your return to Canada were announced, you caused anxiety.” Sincerely, I had wished to phone the President of Canada, or at least the Prime Minister. We were in Brazil together when he informed me that he would not seek public office again.
“I was told that you went to sign off,” the President remarked, adding, “but I wanted to ask him if he could help me find my Alaafin.”

He praised the new king for his discipline and moral integrity, as well as for promoting Yoruba culture in Canada.

That you arrived here first, are crowned, and are returned is a good thing. Thank you so much for it,” the president remarked.
Tinubu emphasized the need of inclusivity for the country’s culture, peace, and stability, pointing out that running the country was not a solo endeavor.
