Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State, has blamed Nigerians for the nation’s persistent problems.
At a Ramadan fast-breaking celebration on Sunday, Lamido made the claim that Nigerians voted the PDP out of office without taking into account the serious repercussions of their choice while speaking at his home in Bamaina.
He claimed that President Bola Tinubu is a master of dishonesty and selfishness, and that Nigerians are ignorant of him.
As I’ve been saying, Tinubu is not well-known in Nigeria. “Deception and selfishness are his specialties,” Lamido remarked.
In order to save Nigeria from the current government, opposition leaders were urged to band together under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who made these remarks after the event.
The notion was rejected by Lamido, who maintained that Tinubu could only be opposed by the principles of nationalism and honesty.
“Anger, greed, hate, envy, or evil are not acceptable ways to oppose Tinubu. In all of things, he is a master.
According to Lamido, “only the principles of nationalism and truth can effectively oppose him.”
The PDP is still the only political force that can defeat Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, according to Lamido.
He also urged Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Aliyu Wamakko—all former PDP members who defected to the APC—to rejoin the party in order to increase the odds of the opposition winning.
APC’s bad governance has resulted in widespread poverty, hunger, insecurity, and overall apprehension among Nigerians, the former governor said, expressing great concern over the country’s declining status.
He said: “The leadership has lost focus, and now everyone in Nigeria is confused.” But in the fight to find a solution, lawmakers need to stay focused and steer clear of personal biases; otherwise, it will be challenging to unseat Tinubu.
“You shall not think of fighting state institutions on the basis of personal disappointment and succeed, but you can only succeed when you put the collective national interest and make sure everyone around is bound by that philosophy,” he added, underscoring the significance of a collective approach.
Appeal for the Return of Former PDP Members
Lamido asked former members of the PDP to rejoin their party after defecting to the APC only to be persecuted and marginalized.

There is no guilt in rejoining the group that exalted you and provided you all with chances to succeed in Nigerian politics. Political resentment is something you need to learn to avoid. Anger cannot be a leader,” he continued.
Lamido specifically called on previous political leaders and governors, including as Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Aliyu Wamakko, to unify under the PDP and strive toward what he called Nigeria’s liberation from the crimes committed by the APC.
Lamido said that the PDP was the only party with the strength and organization to put up a strong fight against Tinubu’s government, dismissing the possibility that other parties like the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) would compete.
