Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Policy Communication, has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, for his recent remarks regarding Nigeria’s democratic situation.
Bwala claimed Obi is only spewing empty rhetoric and has never stood up for democracy.
According to the presidential media aide, Peter Obi has never understood democracy and has always been more interested in buying and selling.
According to the former governor of Anambra State, democracy in Nigeria has failed under the current government.
When he was governor, Obi recounted how former Senate President Ken Nnamani and former President Olusegun Obasanjo intervened to keep him from being impeached.
He claimed that under Obasanjo and previous President Musa Yaradua, the court was mainly free from corruption, in contrast to the current administration, when a president suspended a governor.
At the 60th birthday democracy colloquium hosted by Emeka Ihedioha in Abuja on Monday, he made this statement as one of the panelists.

The Catholic Archbishop of the Sokoto Archdiocese, Hassan Matthew Kukah, disagreed with the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, stating that democracy has not failed but is still being worked on.
However, Bwala directly responded on Tuesday by warning Obi not to talk against encouraging hate speech in a message on his 𝕏 account (previously Twitter).
“It’s funny that failed politicians are attempting to redefine democracy,” he added.
