Police in Kebbi State have reported that three Airtel employees and one other civilian were killed in Gumki village, which is located in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State and is a border town between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

In a statement released on Saturday, police image maker SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the attack, stating that three Airtel employees and one town resident were killed when armed bandits broke into the construction site where the employees were erecting a mast for immigration.

According to the statement, CP Bello M. Sani and Muhammad Bashir Lawali, the Kebbi State Comptroller of Immigration, promptly mobilized to the scene upon receiving the complaint and moved the dead to Sir Yahya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.

In order to deal with the Lakurawa bandits who are terrorizing the area, he continued, the police commissioner has increased the number of tactical squads and reorganized the area’s security architecture.

During his discussion with the village’s stakeholders, he asked local security authorities to cooperate in order to keep armed bandits under control. The public was also urged to report unusual movements and work with security services.
