A young Igala graduate called John Johnson has reportedly been killed and dismembered by attackers who are thought to be herdsmen.
The distressing occurrence was understood to have occurred in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, specifically at Zaina, near Angwar Hakimi, Orozo.
SaharaReporters reports that Johnson was taking part in a Boys’ Brigade camp on March 29, 2025, when the event happened.
It was reported that this young man had already experienced a great deal of difficulty because his father had passed away after a protracted illness the year before.

The attack was confirmed by Amadu Zachariah, the Chief of Igala in Orozo, who also conveyed his sadness.

For failing to apprehend Johnson’s attackers, he chastised the security forces.

Zachariah provided some details about the event, noting that the Boys’ Brigade had set up a camp in Zaina for its members.

But because of the approaching rain, the gathering moved to a nearby church.

The alleged herders reportedly ambushed two leaders who had returned to retrieve their stuff.

While one leader escaped, Johnson was slain.

He recounted the event, saying, “Unfortunately, they had to relocate the kids from their camping location to a nearby church because rain was predicted to fall that evening.” Two of the group leaders returned after they had packed and assembled their load when they were transported there.

People who were thought to be Fulani boys ambushed and attacked them as they were returning to carry the burden. They fled in separate directions, one of them escaping and the other being slain.

“The other boy who escaped to the village told the people, and they returned to save John Johnson, but the attackers had already killed him before they could get there.”

He added that after informing the police, they looked into the matter and found that the Fulani herdsmen who were residing in the region had left. Although no arrests have been made as of yet, the Fulani community’s elders pledged to find the murderers.

At the police station, they went to report the event. Police found that Fulani herdsmen in the surrounding region had fled after packing their belongings.

According to the Hakimi and police officials that arrived for the investigation, they questioned their leaders (Fulani) about the attackers’ whereabouts because they were in either of their sites. Indeed, they have leaders. Their leaders have therefore requested that the police allow them more time to find the murderers. That’s the current state of affairs. He clarified, “No arrest has been made.

The neighborhood and Johnson’s family are in shock and mourning over the senseless killing. They are now demanding justice and action from the authorities because they have no one else to turn to.
