During a counter-insurgency operation in Zamfara State’s Zurmi Local Government Area, Nigerian Army troops have killed infamous bandit kingpin Kachalla Na Faranshi and numerous of his fighters.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist, revealed the successful raid, which was a component of Operation Fansan Yamma, on his X (previously Twitter) handle on Friday.
Originally from Shirgi village in Maradi, Niger Republic, Na Faranshi was a major player in organized crime and arms smuggling throughout northwest Nigeria, according to intelligence sources who spoke with Makama.
Makama disclosed that he had a reputation for smuggling illegal firearms from Mali and Niger and providing them to different armed groups that were active in the northwest forests of Nigeria.
The terrorist leader who was killed had close connections to militant groups in Mali and was once an ally of Bello Turji, another notorious terrorist, according to security sources. Later on, though, he split off to create his criminal network.
In the fight against cross-border terrorism and banditry, Nigerian security forces have achieved yet another major victory with the killing of Na Faranshi.

Along with other security forces, the Nigerian Army has stepped up its efforts to target terrorist hideouts, especially in the forests of Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara states, which are home to criminal organizations.
The accomplishment of this operation demonstrates the military’s continued dedication to bringing peace and security to the North-West, an area beset by mass abductions and armed conflict.
