A rumor that the 2025 WAEC exams were canceled because of rampant test malpractice has been refuted by Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education.
Boriowo Folasade, the minister, refuted the rumor.
On Sunday, the director of press and public relations stated that the 2025 WAEC exams had been successfully finished, with only a few isolated instances of malpractice being reported.
It stated that the appropriate authorities responded quickly to each of the isolated cases.
“A false and misleading statement circulating online, alleging the cancellation of the 2025 WAEC examinations due to widespread examination malpractice, has drawn the attention of the Federal Ministry of Education,” Alausa stated.
“The ministry would like to make the following clarifications and firmly distance itself from this false information: The 2025 WAEC exams have been successfully completed, and the few rare instances of malpractice that have been reported have all been swiftly addressed by the appropriate authorities.
As of this release, there have been no reports of examination malpractice, and the ongoing NECO examinations are proceeding without hiccups.

“There has been no formal notification or report from WAEC, NECO, or any other examination body about widespread malpractice in either of the examinations that has reached the Federal Ministry of Education.”
Nonetheless, the Education Ministry advised the public, school officials, parents, and students to ignore the phony press release that is presently going around.
The ministry claims that it is wholly false, deceptive, and meant to create needless anxiety and confusion.
“The public is encouraged to obtain information only from reputable and validated sources, such as: The Federal Ministry of Education’s official website: www.education.gov.ng.”
The ministry stated that it will keep collaborating closely with examination bodies to improve monitoring and enforcement systems and that it is still totally dedicated to maintaining the integrity, credibility, and orderly conduct of all public examinations.
It issued a warning that anyone discovered disseminating misleading information would be submitted to the relevant security organizations for examination and legal action.
