Some people are not pleased that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are collaborating, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
He made this statement on Monday night at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja, at a joint meeting of PDP and APC stakeholders.
Wike issued a warning about the “rush” for endorsements and the internal strife brought on by individual goals.
The minister emphasized that solidarity and dedication, not money, were the foundation of the group’s current political status.
He cautioned that because of their effective cooperation, other forces are aggressively attempting to split the stakeholders’ ranks.
It would be challenging if we weren’t united and working together. People must do all in their power to keep us apart because they are unhappy that we are working together,” Wike said.
However, he expressed dissatisfaction with some people who have turned against the leadership after being appointed thanks to the group’s influence.
The minister cautioned that anyone attempting to displace others by dishonesty would not be successful, characterizing such actions as a failure of character.
He remarked, “Woe be unto the person that we have given an appointment [who] goes back to castigate,” pointing out that many of the people who had previously sought his mentorship were unable to look him in the eye.
Wike denied rumors of private endorsements for municipal officials in upcoming political cycles, maintaining that his private and public stances are unchanged.
He insisted that the presidential endorsement is the only one that is now accepted.
According to Wike, he hasn’t supported any candidates for the PDP or APC at the state level and won’t till elders get together. He reiterated that President Bola Tinubu is the only individual the group has formally backed.
“Anything I say in the night is what I will say in the daytime,” the minister declared, emphasizing his openness.
Wike praised the leadership of both parties, the council chairmen, and the Rivers elders for their cooperation in bringing the delegates together.
He said that the success of the event was demonstrated by the lack of complaints about people “carrying along.”
