According to reports, Obasanjo made the comments on Saturday during Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration in Lagos.

Attendees at the event enthusiastically applauded the former president’s remarks, which were caught on camera and went viral.

Before recalling the conditions under which he consented to participate, Obasanjo stated that the gathering offered a chance for “celebration, reflection, and correction.”

“You are not the best of my political children, but you have made achievements that must not be ignored,” declared the former Nigerian president.

The former president disclosed that Fayose used former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka to “sound him out” rather than contacting him directly.

“Well, if he (Fayose) has sent you and you have delivered the message, then tell him that you have delivered the message,” Obasanjo recalled saying to Osita, who is also a political youngster.

Fayose had asked for forgiveness in private, he continued.

You have so requested forgiveness, and in my opinion, you have received it. However, the appropriate lessons must be learned, according to Obasanjo.
