Yul Edochie, a Nigerian actor, has raised alarm over the increasing incidence of premature deaths in the country, particularly in the southeast.
The director reportedly advocated for a return to ancient religious rituals.
Edochie wrote on his Facebook page that he recently drove from Anambra State to Arochukwu in Abia State and was taken aback by the amount of obituary signs he noticed along the road.
He believes that society’s abandonment of traditional practices is the cause of the frequent early deaths.
He added that the spirits of the ancestors are unhappy because they have been ignored, and urged Nigerians to reconnect with their roots by practicing traditional religion.
He claimed that doing so would result in spiritual cleansing and help the country overcome its difficulties.

Edochie further said that connecting with ancestral spirits would allow them to wage wars on behalf of individuals and communities.
He emphasized that Nigeria requires significant spiritual involvement.
He wrote: “As I went from Anambra to Arochukwu, Abia state, I noticed numerous obituary posters. Too many premature deaths. And it’s because we abandoned our old ways. Our forefathers and spirits are angry. We must return to our original faith and align with our ancestors and spirits, who will fight our wars. “Our civilization requires spiritual purification.
